Dear collegues and students,
Physics is an experimental science and without the knowledge of experimental techniques one can not become a real physicist. The Turkish Physical Society realized this need for students and young physicists and organized this Second Summer School on Particle Accelerators and Detectors. Particle physics is a research area which involves many topics in physics and engineering in addition to being at the frontier of technology. One can not understand the origins of matter, the evolution of the universe without basic research in particle physics. Accelerators and detectors are essential tools for studying particles and have many applications in our daily lives. We need accelerators to understand the structure of materials, genes and for new materials, better drugs, better therapies.
I would like to thank the Turkish Physical Society for this effort and all the committees and participating lecturers, physicists for their contributions.
